CENTRAL KALIMANTAN – PT Korintiga Hutani held a doa selamat (prayer for safety) and a tolak bala (warding off misfortune) traditional ritual to mark the commencement of its 2026 Annual Work Plan (RKT) operations. The event was organized to support the success and safety of the company’s upcoming activities.
Performing these traditional rites before starting harvesting activities in the 2026 RKT block serves as a mark of respect for local customs. It also functions as a prayer for the safety of heavy equipment operators and field workers, aiming to mitigate workplace accident risks throughout the operational period.
The event—attended by PT Korintiga Hutani Director Mr. Jongmyung Park, management members, contractor representatives, officials from Demang Village, North Arut, community leaders, and local traditional elders—represents the synergy between the company and the community in supporting responsible operations.
“Through these prayers and rituals, we hope that all work processes will run safely and smoothly, providing sustainable benefits for all stakeholders,” said Mr. Jongmyung Park, Director of PT Korintiga Hutani.
Held at the company’s operational area in Lamandau Regency, Central Kalimantan, on Wednesday (Jan 14, 2026), the ceremony began with a traditional Dayak welcoming dance. This was followed by interfaith prayers and the ikat tongang ritual, symbolizing unity, commitment, and safety for the 2026 RKT operations. The event concluded with a communal meal as a sign of togetherness and gratitude.

“We highly appreciate PT Korintiga Hutani’s initiative in maintaining a harmonious relationship with indigenous communities and the environment. This activity reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and occupational safety,” said Murni, the Head of Demang Village, North Arut.
Echoing this sentiment, local traditional leaders emphasized that these rituals are a vital part of community tradition, serving as a symbolic request for protection. “We hope all company activities run safely and benefit all parties involved,” added Sarwin, a Demang traditional leader.
PT Korintiga Hutani believes that success is determined not only by technical planning but also by a harmonious relationship with nature and the surrounding community. The company hopes this event marks a positive start for a 2026 RKT that is safe, responsible, and aligned with local wisdom and environmental conservation efforts. (PR)
